Grief, loss and when my dad’s illness forced me to miss spring

My dad died final spring. Two months after a health care provider identified him with a fatal, neurodegenerative prion disease.

I misplaced these two months, and I can not discover them.

They are not within the photographs on my cellphone. They are not in my textual content messages. They’re not in my dad’s memorabilia beneath my mattress, on my dresser, in my closet. They’re not on the practice, not within the automobile.

They’re misplaced in time. In house. They’re dandelions, little white specks floating throughout the grass.

Spring is a time of rebirth, of resurgence, of flowers in bloom and pollen and sneezes. A time of change towards one thing brighter, hotter. That is the season we spring ahead.
